The AHRI Research Laboratory Technologist's main responsibility is to work with human cells, HIV and various strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the BSL-2 and BSL-3.
The employee will perform molecular biology and immunology techniques related to flow cytometry, T cell cloning, nucleic acid isolation, PCR and in vitro infections. Additionally, the research technologist will have responsibility for standard operating protocols (SOPs) and enforcement of good laboratory practice to ensure contamination free maintenance of the BSL-2 tissue culture laboratory.
1.Hons or Master's Degree in Molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, virology, immunology or equivalent in related field
1.Extensive research laboratory experience is desired (more than 3 years' experience)
2.Processing and storing of human samples e.g. bloods, tissue, cells, RNA/DNA etc
3.Experience with TB and HIV lab research
4.Good Clinical Laboratory Practice
5.BSL3 laboratory experience advantageous
6.Experience in molecular biology, immunology or genetic techniques
7.High level of computer literacy
